Dictionary Definition of Noble: 1: possessing outstanding qualities: illustrious, famous, notable.

By that yardstick, Peterborough-based rockers New Nobles are indeed well-named. Their full-length debut CD, Come On, is a genuinely outstanding and notable rock n' roll record, one worthy of real recognition.

The New Nobles comprise the dynamic duo of singer/bassist Jen Zentner and guitarist Dean Beardsley, personal and professional partners in crime. The beauty of the New Nobles aesthetic is the dynamic relationship between the academically-trained and technically skilled Beardsley and the untrained passion of Zentner. On Come On, the refreshing result is a sound that is simultaneously raw and virile yet well-structured and melodic.

The spontaneous and unfussy vibe of Come On reflects the duo's songwriting method. "I've never really tried to write a song," says Jen. "I just sort of puke them out all in one go. I might pick up my bass, play a note, and the song stumbles out of me." Dean explains that "Jen may come up with a couple of verses and a bass line. She'll bring them over to me, and I'll pick them apart a little, perhaps come up with a chorus." "After Dean adds some new parts musically, I'll make up more words to go over top," adds Jen.

Come On showcases a radically different sound (and image) than that of the 2007 self-titled New Nobles debut EP. Dean produced and wrote all the songs on that record, with Jen focusing on playing bass and adding some background vocals. New Nobles is a strong rock n’ roll record, but the evolution of Zentner as a lead vocalist and songwriter of real potential has brought the band to a new level.
